Air Transat is pleased and proud to announce that it has won the Family Friendly Airline Award for a second time. This international distinction, created in 2011 by the Kids First Fund, is awarded to air carriers that provide additional services and extra comfort to children and their parents.
This year, a jury made up of travel industry leaders shortlisted four airlines: Air Transat, El Al Israel Airlines, Iberia and South African Airways. The winner of the Family Friendly Airline Award was then determined by popular vote on the Kids First Fund Facebook page. Thanks to its Kids Club, Air Transat garnered 63% of the votes cast by Facebook members from countries around the world, including Canada, Brazil, France, India and the United States.
“We’re extremely proud of this acknowledgement of the services we provide to families who fly with us,” said Jean-François Lemay, General Manager, Air Transat, adding: “Our airline has excelled for 25 years now, and one of our hallmarks is helping to provide unforgettable and worry-free family vacations, thanks to, among other things, the Air Transat Kids Club and the quality of service delivery by our staff both in the air and on the ground.”
The Air Transat Kids Club, founded in 2006, is open to children ages 2–11 who are residents of Canada, France, or the United Kingdom. Kids Club members and their parents enjoy a number of travel privileges, including free seat selection for the child, a dedicated airport check-in counter, priority baggage delivery, priority boarding, and free unlimited snacks upon presentation of the Kids Club membership card to cabin personnel.
“Air Transat clearly cares about its family passengers,” said Jay Sorensen, President, Kids First Fund. “The carrier provides a robust array of services at every touchpoint, from booking to boarding, and on board the aircraft. Its efforts cater to the needs of parents by reducing the stress that can be associated with travel with children. But even better, these services create a better cabin environment for all travellers by keeping kids contented and comforted.”
Air Transat is Canada’s leading holiday travel airline. Every year, it carries some 3 million passengers to nearly 60 destinations in 25 countries aboard its fleet of Airbus wide-body jets. The company employs approximately 2,000 people. Air Transat is a business unit of Transat A.T. Inc., an integrated international tour operator with more than 60 destination countries and that distributes products in over 50 countries.
