More flights and destination choices for Canadian travellers for summer 2017
MONTREAL, Sept. 15, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Today, Air Transat presents its 2017 transatlantic flight program, offering 27 European destinations that will be accessible to a greater number of travellers thanks to its new connecting flights. True to its position as Canada's leading holiday travel airline, Air Transat further meets customer demand by optimizing its direct flight program to France, the UK, Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland and Croatia, while maintaining its flights to the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium and Czech Republic.
"Air Transat is committed to making Europe accessible to the greatest number of Canadian travellers, which is why we are proud to enhance our flight program yet again this year," says Annick Guérard, President and General Manager of Transat Tours Canada. "We stand out by offering one of the most diverse transatlantic portfolios on the market, so it was important to expand our program to offer our clients greater flexibility when it came to planning their vacations."
Increasing flights to France, the UK and the Mediterranean
Air Transat strengthens its flight program to France and the UK, where it has been present for nearly 30 years, offering direct flights several times a week to a wide variety of cities. Flights to Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Nice, Nantes, London, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham will be mainly operated by Airbus A330s as of next spring, providing travellers great comfort, a personal entertainment system with individual touch screens, and superior inflight experience thanks to an attentive crew. Air Transat also offers a multi-destination flight option, making it possible to land in one European city and return from another, at no extra cost — a simple and affordable way to discover even more destinations during each trip.
Air Transat's enriched program to France also includes an increase in flight frequency on the popular Montreal-Paris route (one additional flight, for a total of 14 direct flights a week) as well as on the Montreal-Marseille route (one additional flight, for a total of five direct flights a week), which is the ideal gateway to a holiday in Provence.
There will also be an increase in frequency in some of its flights to its Mediterranean destinations, such as Italy, Greece, Spain and Portugal, popular for short and long holidays, as well as for cruises. Flights will be added to these routes:
Central Europe and Ireland still in the spotlight
For those who wish to discover Central Europe, flight frequency on the Toronto-Zagreb and Montreal-Prague routes, two new additions to the transatlantic program, will increase to twice a week.
And finally, Air Transat will offer an additional flight between Toronto and Dublin, for a total of three flights a week and maintain one flight a week from Montreal.
Europe for everyone thanks to an expanded connecting flight program
Building on the success of its connecting flights, which it has been operating for three years now, Air Transat strengthens its program by inaugurating two new routes — in addition to increasing the frequency of some of its existing flights — making all of its transatlantic destinations available to travellers in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City. Therefore, during peak season, Air Transat will offer:
Air Transat was voted Best North American Leisure Airline at the Skytrax annual World Airline Awards in July 2016, in addition to placing third among the top customer-oriented airlines, after Porter and KLM, according to a recent survey carried out by Protégez-Vous among Quebec consumers.
