Air Transat Opens Direct Route from Montreal to Amsterdam
It becomes the only Canadian airline to operate non-stop service between these two cities

Montreal, May 6, 2022 – Air Transat, named World’s Best Leisure Airline of 2021 at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, is proud to have begun yesterday direct service between Montreal and Amsterdam. It will operate until mid-October with three flights per week at the height of the season: on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. With this service, the airline is responding to the significant demand from travellers who want to discover Europe this summer and strengthening its fast-growing transatlantic operations.

“We are very excited to provide our customers with easy access to another jewel of European culture. Amsterdam joins 18 other destinations to explore from Montreal,” said Joseph Adamo, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Transat. “The Netherlands is a fascinating destination, both steeped in history and forward-looking, and known for its efforts to be environmentally responsible. Air Transat highlights this experience with the Airbus A321neoLR, the greenest aircraft in its class.”

“ADM Aéroports de Montréal is delighted to see its partner Air Transat enrich the service offer of YUL, our major international airport, Montréal-Trudeau. Amsterdam is not only a fascinating city to visit, whose charm will enchant Quebec travelers, but it also shares with Montreal a common mission of developing sustainable tourism. In this sense, we are also delighted that the fuel-efficient Airbus A321neoLR has been selected for this route,” said Stéphane Lapierre, Vice President, Airport Operations and Air Services Development at ADM.

The new-generation Airbus A321neoLR is 15% more fuel efficient, 50% less noisy and lowers emissions of the greenhouse gas NOx by half compared to previous-generation aircraft. In addition, its modern cabin provides more personal space and larger individual entertainment screens in both Economy and Club Class.

“What a pleasure it is to see the Air Transat star back on our tarmac after an absence of over two years,” said Marcel Lekkerkerk, Director, Airline Partnerships, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. “We are delighted that Air Transat is flying an Airbus A321neoLR on its two routes between Canada and the Netherlands, to Toronto and Montreal.”
