Algonquin Park, Ontario
Within close proximity to Toronto, this stunning park which is made up of forests, lakes and rivers offers the opportunity to see autumn foliage by foot or canoe. Maple trees are at their best at the end of September or end of October, whereas the aspens, tamaracks and red oaks reach their peak in the middle of October.
Montreal, Quebec
There are many places to view the autumn colours in Montreal, from the top of Parc du Mont Royal in the middle of the city, to the Montreal Botanical Garden where the annual lantern festival (2 Sept – 31 Oct) coincides with the city’s autumn foliage season. Alternatively, just a short drive north of Montreal are the Laurentian Mountains which offer one of the most spectacular views of red, orange and yellow leaves displayed by a variety of different tree species.
The Rocky Mountains, Alberta
Still warm and dry but slightly quieter than in the summer, September and October are great months to visit the Rocky Mountains. Visitors can take in the stunning colours of the sub-alpine larch and aspen trees in peaceful surroundings.
Stanley Park, Vancouver, British Columbia
With guaranteed great views of the autumn colours, the best time to visit Vancouver’s popular Stanley Park is in October and November as the trees and vegetation peak a little later in B.C. Top tip: for one of the best ways to see the variety of colours, take a bike ride around the Park’s seawall.
All Air Transat flights include the added value of a 23kg allowance for hold luggage, meals and soft drinks on board, plus in-flight entertainment.
Air Transat offers flexible Eco fares, allowing passengers to make changes for free up to the day of departure. Passengers can also book Option Plus for more economy class benefits, or upgrade to Club Class, a separate cabin Premium Economy service.
