Montreal, October 31, 2017 – Transat has won a prize in the Packaged Trips category at the first-ever Solo Travel Awards, established by online resource Solo Traveler to recognize companies that are “doing it right” when it comes to attracting and serving single travellers.
“We are very pleased to win a prize at this first edition of these awards,” said Annick Guérard, Chief Operating Officer, Transat. “This recognition shows that Transat cares and strives constantly to offer the best products for every type of traveller, including singles. We created our Solo Collection to meet the growing demand from this customer segment, and we are proud that this has been honoured.”
With more and more single vacationers travelling, Transat launched its Solo Collection in 2015, then available at 17 resorts in 10 destinations in 7 countries. The collection has been enhanced and expanded in the past two years, almost doubling the number of hotels and destinations: single travellers can now choose from among 38 resorts at 16 destinations in 11 countries!
With its Solo Collection, Transat has put together a group of resorts that people who like to travel alone can enjoy thanks to benefits such as a communal table for sharing meals and no single supplement. The Solo Collection was designed by experts to provide holiday experiences that are perfectly tailored to vacationers' needs. Transat feels that it stands out for its service to singles and this is reflected in the fact that the Solo Collection experienced a 60% increase in number of customers last year.
As a holiday travel specialist, Transat develops and commercializes a vast array of products, including beach vacations, guided tours and cruise packages. Transat offers a variety of products to reach every type of traveller, especially through its five collections: Luxury, Distinction, Family, Sun Savvy and of course Solo.
To determine the winners of the Solo Travel Awards, Solo Traveler enlisted the expertise of esteemed judges and influencers in the industry. Established in 2009, Solo Traveler is an online resource and community that provides information, inspiration and advocacy for solo travellers and the industry that is growing to serve them. It is regarded as the definitive source and community for those who travel alone, with over 300,000 travellers from 159 countries engaging with the community every month.
